Madhusnihi- Smialx china being the prime drug of this recipe also possesses Guggulu and Gandhaka which are also appreciated well for their potent kushthaghna, vranaropaka and rasayana action. The formulation is widely used even today while during the treatment of arsha-bhagandara-vrana etc. The formulation is a well known recipe in the cure of the deadly diseases like non healing ulcers and syphilis, chronic degenerative arthritis etc.

The formulation was prepared as per the classical method of lehya kalpana by taking the ingredients as referred in classical mentioning. The pharmaceutico-analytical findings of the test drug appear valuable in determining the quality of the drug and hence may be used as an important tool to establish its effective molecules in selective diseases too.

2020-09-25T00:00:00+0530 Copyright (c) 2020 Dr M S Krishnamurthy Suvacha Ayurveda http://jahm.in/index.php/jahm/article/view/13 A CASE STUDY ON PAIN MANAGEMENT IN KADAR THROUGH AGNIKARMA 2020-09-03T08:52:27+0530 HIMANI bishthimani8@gmail.com
The description of Kadar is given in kshudra roga by Acharya Sushruta in Sushruta Samhita. Acharya Bhoj described it as Manskeel. According to Acharya Sushruta, Kadar has very simple pathology but is very difficult to cure. There is involvement of meda and rakta with dosha. Initially this disease is painless but later on it becomes very painful. In modern sciences it can be compared with corn. In modern surgery the only form of treatment of a corn that affords any reliable prospect of cure is excision. In this study corn is treated by Agnikarma using Ashtadhatu shalaka in a systematic manner for a duration of 12 days with intervals of 6 days in 3 sittings.
2020-09-25T00:00:00+0530 Copyright (c) 2020 HIMANI http://jahm.in/index.php/jahm/article/view/7 A REVIEW ON THE CONCEPT OF PRANA IN CHARAKA SAMHITHA 2020-08-30T20:23:36+0530 Dr.Bharath V bharathysu@gmail.com Dr Shreevathsa dr.shreevathsa@rediffmail.com
Ayurveda aims at treating the rogi than mere roga. Knowledge of vitality among components of ayu (shreera, inriya, satva and atma) is necessary for a bhishak as well as common man in understanding Ayurveda. Majority of the Ayurveda treatises have their own unique style of narrating the concepts and methods to understand the tantra. Support of various related shastras, tantrayuktis, other fields of medicine, utility of language, holistic approach towards a concept and its systematic review would help in finer development of theoretical and practical skills.

‘Prana’ is one such concept seen in Charaka samhitha which is understood and interpreted with multiple meanings according to different contexts such as life, breath, subtype of vata, essence of food, agni, ojas, indriya and so on. This concept of prana can also be seen in different literatures and routine usage of language. It is important to know which meaning is to be considered in particular context. Versatile approach towards prana seen in Charaka samhitha and there is a need to review it thoroughly for understanding it in a better way. Reviewing provides more ways to communicate, learn and develop. Present literary work is an attempt towards the systematic compilation and review of the concept of prana mentioned in Charaka samhitha and its interpretation.

Key words: Prana, Charaka samhitha, Ayu, Vital energy, Tantrayukti.
2020-09-25T00:00:00+0530 Copyright (c) 2020 Dr.Bharath V, Dr Shreevathsa
